Well, I know this is a little late. I told Chris that I would write an article about the region's Awards Banquet as soon as I got back from Ecuador. I'm back so here it is. Hope you were there 'cause if you weren't you missed a good one. The food was good, the raffle prizes were great !
Here's the people who took home awards.
- The Associate Member Award when to Tim Meyer from Las Vegas. You might remember Tim. He's the guy in the white Spec 944 who has been up front in the class last few times he's come down to play with us.
- Member of the year went to Gil Jackson. Gil has been very instrumental in getting the vantage group up and running in the region and can be seen driving yellow MGB at our events and is also on the regions Board of Directors.
- Junior Volunteer of the Year went to Jessica Pierce. Jessica is the daughter of Rod Pierce, driver and board member and is also as dedicated to the region as her dad. You'll find Jessica in the Timing and Scoring tower at our events, nice job Jessica!
- Rookie Driver of the Year was John Bemiss, congratulations John.
- Regional Driver of the year was Delaney Sturgeon. Delaney drives a Spec 944 and very well I may add.
- National Driver was Moses Smith who drives a Formula Mazda. Hope to see more of him next season.
- The Hard Charger award went to Jeff England.
- Volunteer (worker) of the year went to Pam Calman. Pam and I go waaay back. I got Pam interested in coming out to help me in Grid when I was Chief. She did such a good job she is now Chief of Grid and doing a great job. Way to go Pa!!
